COSY NMR is the first two-dimension NMR developed. It allows fast identification of a proton and its neighbors, whether they are geminal protons or through three-bond linkage. However, many times the appearance of four bond COSY peaks and COSY transfer through quaternary carbon in conjugated systems makes it hard for beginners and structure illustration.
