Tailgating in 1869

Tailgating first started in Greece and rome. Some believe tailgating got its name when Princeton played Rutgers in 1869, and fans were served sandwiches off the wagon, pulled by a horse, whose tail flapped about as they ate. In 1930s, wooden sided station wagons arrived, and their spacious tailgates allowed fans to really put a pre-speard.
