Drawing Project 2 – Contour Line Study

“Baking Cookies” – 2 views February 2024
Medium: graphite #2, #4, #6 pencils on 2 pieces of 18″ x 12″ drawing paper
The purpose of this project was to expand my understanding of contour line. Without the use of shading, I relied on heavier/lighter lines and cross-contour grid drawing methods to show volume and positive and negative space. There are two views of the subject – a “messy view” and a “mouse’s view”. The subject represents an activity I enjoy: baking cookies. Baking cookies is a connection I have with my mom and sister, who taught me to bake, and with my children, whom I passed along the enjoyment of both baking, eating and sharing home-made cookies!
