Project 2 Reflection/Analysis
- What objects did you choose to represent yourself with and why?
I chose a birdhouse, a surfboard on a stand, a Zen candle holder, and a ceramic fish. To balance the positive and negative space, I added flowers to the front view.
These items were souvenirs my roommate collected during his travels with his band. I chose them because they remind me of my first girls’ trip to the Bahamas in the ’80s.
- What is your focal point and why? Why did you choose this object/area to be the focal point?
Even though the birdhouse is enlarged and sits in front of the candle, I chose the Zen candle as my focal point because it represents calm and serenity and has more complex details than the other objects.
- Do the different viewpoints in your drawings change the meaning or overall feeling of your drawing? Why or why not?
The different viewpoints of my drawings change the feeling because of how the objects are positioned. In the drawing with the extreme view, I am looking up at the objects. This provides a different perspective from the front view because the shapes of the objects change.
- What aspects of your drawing could use improvement?
All aspects of my drawings could be improved because I continue to learn new and different techniques to incorporate into my drawings. But if I had to pick one, it would be composition. I would like to know and understand the best ways to arrange/rearrange objects for my drawings.
- What aspects of your drawing do you think are the most successful?
I feel I was most successful in capturing certain shapes using contour lines, to a certain degree. My drawings are a work in progress.
