Legislative Process

This bill is not an amendment to an existing law; however there was a similar bill proposed in 2011; House Bill 23, which did not pass.  The bill was assigned to the House Health and Human Services Committee.  Sharon Cooper is the chair of that committee.  There was no mention of any lobbyists working for or against this bill here in Georgia.   The only person mentioned on the bill at all is Keisha Waites.  There was a similar bill proposed in Florida, however, where drug companies lobbied against the bill and won.  This bill made it to House Second Readers and then died.

  1. So if there were no lobbyists against the bill, why do you think it died? Was there any activity at all? Was the cause the fact that the legislative session was so short?
