The Autopsy Records

It's not what it looks like

After she was found dead, police investigated Hae Min Lee’s death, and case very closely, and determined several important facts about the case. Koenig believed, based on Jay’s testimony, and the way of her burial on the ground, that she was first killed on a specific spot, and was taken to the park to be buried. When her autopsy was uncovered, the coroner determined that she died at “2:36 pm,” and after four to five hours later, was buried on her right side in Leakin Park on February 9, 1999.

She also displayed a feature known as “lividity,” where blood starts to settle in the lower part of the body and takes up to 12 hours to be fully visible, and fixed. Recently, experts from Undisclosed revealed that for Hae Min Lee to display lividity on her autopsy she must have been “placed face down and stretched out soon after her death,” and was kept in that position for 12 hours before being buried (Everett). Everett claimed that Hae Min Lee’s supposed time of death was rashly used to convict Syed.

With this new evidence, Adnan Syed’s chance of freeing himself from his nearly 16 years of imprisonment grows as he was “thrilled” to hear about his new trial on February 2016. Adnan Syed conveyed “his deep gratitude and thanks from the bottom of his heart to all those who have supported him and believed in him,” as he learnt that his new trail resulted from Serial’s coverage on his case, and the numerous contributions to his defense, such as ineffective legal counsel (Stack).
