Project IV Mix Media

I believe this is my natural favorite combination of techniques. We were introduced to toned paper, conte crayons, and ink wash techniques. The ink wash was a lot of fun to do. I chose to do a bell pepper because of it’s odd shape. I did the bell pepper in contour line which is my favorite. It really goes with my animated style and energy. I also really connected with the skeleton project. It was my first time using the conte and I really could feel how the sepia warms up the bones in the first two skull images.

Self Portrait: The self portrait was very difficult for me to do because I get excited and need to slow down more and look. The critique we had on this was very insightful for me because I was able to see which areas I should spend more time on. However I am in love with conte crayons and want to use them on everything. I love how using toned paper really changes the energy of the project. It gives it this antique vintage appearance like somehting out of an old french magazine.

Take Aways:

Slow down on the self portrait and spend more time looking.

Use conte crayons to warm up and highlight certain areas versus using for color
