History behind the Experiment
In the article written by Phia Bennin and Brendan McMullan; “Color Walking.” It gives the reader a new insight about colors and your environment. The authors tell the reader about how William Burroughs came up with a concept to inspire his students. The Idea is to walk outside and to pick a color that catches your eye. Once that color catches your eye; start following it and see where it takes you. This experiment can make one look at someone’s shorts, to someone’s ice cream cone, to the color of someone’s hair, which really opens the eyes of the person and makes them more in tune with their environment.
Testing the Experiment Out
The experiment created by William Burroughs is a very easy experiment to test and quite frankly can be very exciting and fun. The authors themselves say that they tested it out starting in WNYC, in lower Manhattan on Sunday afternoon. They state; however, that they were switching colors regularly because it was leading them to other colors. Such as a Blues leading them to pinks which led them to violets. they also state how the experiment left colors in their brains and it also had them remembering what they saw.
The Affects of the Experiment
The authors Show detail in the colors they were seen because it must have had a lasting effect on them. Seeing colors and following them can bring people to new places and show them things that they never really noticed that is in front t of them every day. This can make people see things in a new light or see the world in a whole new way; thus, providing a lot of inspiration just as William Burroughs Intended. His Experiment is Successful in providing inspiration and having people see the world in a new color.
