The above source is an article by Nurul ‘Ulyani Mohd Najib called “Living in On-campus Student Housing: Students’ Behavioral Intentions and Students’ Personal Attainments,” where the main focus is detailing students actions and Behavioral intentions based off their personal attainments. The Study is taken In Malaysia where there are many different students that are local to that area and many different diverse students that come from other places to study. The article shows two main ideas; which is how students will perform on a college campus in regards to how much benefits they get from the campus, and how the affect of ones environment and the benefits it gives to someone, can impact how they act towards their environment in the future. I chose this article because it has newly found in formation and statistics that have been recently published within the last five years about my overall topic on how the student is affected by living on campus. I haven’t found any major flaws related to the source other than that the studies taken and the information gathered were no where near the city of Atlanta; however, this is beneficial because it broadens my information that i will have needed to gather to support my topic.
Valliant, Paul M. “PERSONALITY, LIVING ARRANGEMENTS, AND ALCOHOL USE BY FIRST YEAR UNIVERSITY.” “Social Behavior & Personality: An International Journal” 06 Jan. 1997. Web.
Paul M. Valliant’s shcolarly article “PERSONALITY, LIVING ARRANGEMENTS, AND ALCOHOL USE BY FIRST YEAR UNIVERSITY,” is an article published to compare and detail students living on campus, students living with their parents, and students living off campus without their parents. The article gives many facts and statistics that shows how someone living off campus with their parents are way less likely to drink and become alcoholics then someone living on campus. This source helps me with my topic in many ways because it gives information on not only the affects of becoming an alcoholic, but also gives the effects of campus living on someones self esteem. This source in relation to my topic helps bring more conversation to the topic of the affects of living on campus to student. Although the research in the article wasn’t in Atlanta, the information presented in the article is factual and helpful because it is a scholarly source and gives a vast amount of details and statistics I need for my topic.
Muhammad Hilmy Muslim. “Satisfaction of Students’ Living Environment between On-Campus and Off-Campus Settings: A Conceptual Overview ☆.” Satisfaction of Students’ Living Environment between On-Campus and Off-Campus Settings: A Conceptual Overview. Web. 24 Feb. 2016.
The Scholarly source above by Muhammad Hilmy Muslim is an article i got from the GSU library website that furthers the conversation on the impact of students that live on campus. the research in this article comes from Malaysia also just like my source above. This Source isn’t too into the affects of the physiological well-being of the students but more so on their satisfaction. Most of the research in the article are statistics form studios taken on students that lived on campus and then compared to students who don’t live on campus. The information in the article also shows the impact on the students GPA, which in many of my other articles i am using does not. This helps me with the remaining questions I needed answered for my topic and also this article gives more information overall than most other articles I have chosen from. Overall this source is reliable and i know it is one of the most useful source to my topic based off what I’m trying to convey to my audience.
