Disability:
- who is the “Audience?”
- how has the definition of audience been “abliest” historically?
- thinking in terms of binary gender
- designing communication that is primarily visual (problematic)
- universal design= alternative or response to ableist design
- –> we think about accessibility all the time because its good for EVERYONE, not just persons with disabilities
- Con: by using universal design, it puts the “normal” in focus and draws out the PWD as the exception
Cross Cultural Communication:
- access to technology
- compatibility and responsiveness of platforms\
- images
- controversial is defined by context (dress and gender codes, subject matter restrictions)
- meaning may be culturally variable
- have a full representation of your audience
- color
- differences in symbolism, colorblindness, linguistic variability, be affected by technological access
