The focus was value in this project. We were tasked with using half of a drawing page to create a unique shape to put under a spotlight on a dark background to capture the gradient of shadow. We started by choosing the best composition and then adding value to our paper with vine charcoal. We then start to add more value in places where the shadow is darker and lighten where there is more light. This gradually becomes a clear picture of our paper structure.
