In this project, we explored creating a sculpture out of wire. Students had to choose 3+ different insects or animals to construct their own unique creepy crawly, with the caveat of one being a beetle.
For my creepy crawly, I combined a beetle body, with a scorpion tail, centipede pincers, and the camouflage of leaf insects. The bulk of the sculpture is made with .041 and .023 gauge Black Ann wire. I incorporated beads and 16 gauge silver wire into the design. The tail and the exoskeleton mimic leaves in appearance and the beads are berry look-a-likes to lure prey.
