Could this have all been planned? Could Brian have been getting cold feet about asking Alexis’s hand in marriage? Or could Brian have been more distressed about his mother’s death than he was letting on? Both? This theory is very much possible, Brian could have just decided in his inebriated state that he was not ready for marriage and to avoid his responsibilities, as stated in Crimefeed, Brian could have ‘changed his clothes and put on a hat. He may have even snuck out using the freight elevator where the bar gets its deliveries’ (McPadden). However, although possible, this is most likely not the case in Brian’s disappearance because after Brian would have sobered up he would have come back to his normal life with family and friends waiting for him. According to the Columbus Dispatch, Brian had invited his brother, Derek, and his wife to come to The Ugly Tuna Saloona after their date (Wagner). Why would Brian invite them to come if he was planning to disappear? And if Brian came up with the plan after drinking and was continuing to hide even after the night to avoid his life, why would he not come back after the death of his father 2 years later? Both the options in where Brian could have disappeared just do not make any long term probable sense. But does seem possible, according to NBC News, since Brian was drinking heavily that night, police believe in his vulnerable state he could have been a victim to foul play (Stafford).
