Brian Shaffer, a 27-year-old, second-year medical student at Ohio State University from Columbus, Ohio went missing on the 1st of April in 2006 in a bar in Columbus, Ohio during a night of bar hopping with his friends to celebrate their spring break (Missing Brian Shaffer). Brian and his friend William ‘Clint’ Florence intended to make their way down to the Arena District but ran into one of William’s friend, Meredith, at the Short North, who drove them all back to The Ugly Tuna Saloona around 1:15 a.m to end the night (Pepi). As stated in Mel Magazine, when closing came at The Ugly Tuna Saloona, Brian’s friends were unable to find him and assumed he already left (Pepi). Days past and no one had heard from Brian, says the Columbus Dispatch, but when Brian missed his flight to Miami with his girlfriend, Alexis Waggoner, who he intended to propose to on the trip, she contacted the Columbus P.D (Wagner). After countless hours examining all sources of footage surveillance of the night it was concluded “Everyone who entered the bar that night was accounted for. Everyone except Brian” (Pepi). While there are many theories surrounding Brian’s disappearance, it is most likely this happy and successful student met with foul play at The Ugly Tuna Saloona that night and police have just yet to find the body.
