Project 4 consisted of prompts 1, 2, and 3. The assignment was to create works of art that respond to the different prompts. Under the directives of making quick and potent artworks and developing compassion for yourself. We were also asked to describe our inspiration and feelings of these works.

The hodgepodge of failures … This assignment caused self-reflection we were to draw items that we were “not comfortable with drawing, continuously for an hour. I chose side profiles, they scare me, I have struggled with these my entire career. The project basically reinforced that with repetition comes perfection, and our view of perfection is definitely not someone else’s. We have to be less critical of ourselves.

Nature Prompt- Or assignment was to go out into our environment and use items to create a work of art. My inspiration was yoga at the beach, I collected seashells, bought them home, and arranged them and a few garden rocks into a figure in a yoga pose, with a flower on her head. This project was calming and helped me to realize the beauty around me everywhere. I also appreciate that in this we created land art where we did not destroy or break things around us we were able to place the items back in the environment.

Collage Self Portrait

Self-portrait- Using different mediums create a self-portrait using:

1. Paper that you have painted or drawn on that is then trimmed into your collage

2. a recycled item from your kitchen (may be a part of the wrapper or label of something you eat often like Cheetos or grits)

3. something trimmed from a photograph or magazine. You can find a large group of magazines in the art building,

I utilized tea bags, acrylic-painted paper, glitter, and magazine cutouts. I had the opportunity to really incorporate meaningful sayings and really look at my own feature to create details. This was my favorite assignment. I think I have fallen for Collage.
