Personal Site Response: The Rooftop at Ponce City Market

The rooftop at Ponce City Market is surrounding by the most visited spots in Atlanta, Ga. It seems to be very popular from all the people that visit the rooftop. The landscapes are very detailed mostly squares I noticed, and very well placed along the walls and the floors of the roof top. Some of the faded spots on the roof give a clear interpretation that the building is certainly old, and is being fixed almost everyday. The way the building was built around the environment, and where they wanted the roof top to be placed shows that they wanted everyone who went up there to remember the time that they had on the rooftop was a good one.

The rooftop at Ponce is a really nice experience and a very good place to visit if you want to relax or if you want to just take a good picture. The classic structure, which is the area’s largest adaptive reuse project, has been reinvented as a vibrant community hub housing the Central Food Hall, various shops, flats and offices, all while pointing back to the roots of its inception. The market infuses vigor and excitement into this historically-significant structure, located in one of Atlanta’s most cherished neighborhoods.

Focused Built Environment Description: Ponce City Market (The Rooftop)

A right take of the rooftop at Ponce City Market

This is on the rooftop of the famous Ponce City Market. This building was originally the Sears shipping center. After they were closed down for business, it became a city hall. On top of the roof it is a lot to experience and a variety of things to look at. When you look down you can see lot of buildings and shopping centers that millions and millions of people visit in one day from the looks of it. From so far up most of the building look very far away and most of them were made of stone or brick. Buildings that you know look not so pleasant straight up, looked really nice far-away.

The ride up to the rooftop was a very memorable experience. You can tell by looking at some of the walls in the building that it is a little old, yet renovated. The elevator was a delivery looking type of elevator where you have to pay, and inside the elevator were windows where you can look at everything getting smaller while you are coming up.

There was a huge bar to protect people that want a tour of the rooftop to not fall out. When this was a warehouse for Sears, this is where they used to send the packages to the top of the building. Who would have ever known that later it would transport people for a rooftop tour.

The mini golf course on the rooftop

Once you reach the top of the roof on the left side there is a peaceful-mellow area where you can play mini-golf with friends and have drink. The way the golf course was set up looks a s if the open space was made for people to have a good time while feeling as if they were on top of the world. Not many people were up on the top adventuring the different fun things they have, but the very few people that were there were chilling and having a great time. Most of the people were acting as if this was there on private event.

When you walk into another area you see these very colorful balloons on the ceiling, that signifies that there will be something new coming soon. The balloons light up all the time and they aren’t regular balloons, they are glass balloons. What I admire the most was the different shades of blue that they had and the sizes of them and the way they were placed.

The rooftop also has a flower garden where they will soon build vegetables for the current restaurants that are inside of the Ponce city market building. Along the flower garden, there are benches placed along the side for people to admire the view of the wonder city of Atlanta. The garden water spray comes on every ten minutes to refresh the beautiful flowers and also to help them develop.

The event area

The event area

The event area is where they have a many many weddings and birthday parties. On the floor is a great pattern that kind of shapes the building in a unique way. It is located on the right side of the roof top and gives a great view of Atlanta as well. This was by far the best part of my visit. You can see Perimeter Mall, downtown Buckhead and other noticeable spots. This was by far the coolest place to visit.
