The Atlanta zoo, know as Zoo Atlanta, is located at 800 Cherokee Avenue SouthEast, Atlanta Georgia. The zoo features many different things, one of these being the signs. The signage at Zoo Atlanta is located all over the park and the signs provide all sorts of information. There are signs providing information about the direction different animals and where attractions are, signs about what animals are in each cage, information about the different animals, and so on and so forth.

This first sign provides information about Zoo Atlanta, making the Atlanta zoo stand out because it says “only at Zoo ATL” and is a bright shade of yellow against the dark green of the plant life. It also has an image of a red panda on it and says the panda’s name across the top right said and below it says “red panda” in black lettering. The sign is placed near the entrance of the zoo, catching the eye because of it’s placement and coloring.

This sign says “African Plains” and is over the entryway to the African plain animals. This sign has a grainy and textured look to it with white lettering that stands out and is slightly raised off of the sign. The right and left corners are both designed with shapes and lines and the sign itself is hung by chains to a post above it.

Carnivores vs predators
Notice the green of both the wall and signs and how the red lettering stands out.

These two signs protruding from the walls provide information about carnivores and predators and is in the carnivore section of the zoo which is home to different carnivores from all over the world. The sign protrudes from a green textured wall. The sign itself has the headings of each section in bright red and the information under each section in black lettering. It also provides images in relation to the text it provides about carnivores and predators.

The two signs featured in the image to the left are both found above another bird enclosure. Like the above image, the both have brown borders with white backgrounds and text providing information about birds. The one closest provides general information about the flight of birds and the one further back contains more specific information about the birds in the enclosure. These sorts of signs are found all over the zoo, not just near the bird enclosures, but all of the animal enclosures. Many of them provide information about the animal in that specific location, but some are more general like the carnivore and predator signs as well as the birds’ flight sign.

There are also signs providing arrows and directions for different exhibits, or signs leading into each area. These signs encompass what is enclosed in the area as a whole. The directional signs are specific to certain exhibits, like bears or pandas. The zoo is filled with signs left and right, as well as up and down and inside the zoo and outside and around the zoo. These signs are all informative in one way or another, each providing different, but relevant information to the reader in reference to where they are located inside or outside of Zoo Atlanta.
