The Sweet Auburn Curb Market is located at 209 Edgewood Avenue SouthEast Atlanta, Georgia. The Market is housed in what was originally the Municipal Market Building, which opened in 1924 and has since been turned into the Sweet Auburn Curb Market. This market is home to fresh produce, meats, and seafood, as well as different shops and many eateries. I will be examining the texture both outside and inside the building.

Textures present outside the Sweet Auburn Curb Market:

This is where I entered the market. Note the large painting above the doors.

Upon nearing the Sweet Auburn Curb Market, there are many different textures. The first texture, surrounding the outside of the building is the porous sandpaper-like red brick, rough to the touch. Between the many bricks is holey, grainy, and grayish mortar. There are also windows, smooth and clear, with dark green frames, rough and bumpy in some places, rigged or smooth in others. The doors continue on with the dark green color, also wooden with glass. The wood has some areas that are elevated off of the door, while the rest is flat. The windows are clear and shiny.

Next, there is a painting high above the doors. It has been weathered by time, with small rough patches and cracks around the edges. In some areas of the painting the strokes reveal textures running is straight and curved lines, leaving behind ridges.

On another side of the building there is an overhang from which signs that advertise different eateries and shops in the Sweet Auburn Curb Market hang. The signs themselves appear smooth in most places, with a few coarse spots appearing here and there. The sidewalk that the signs hang over is rough and porous, with bumps and indents marking it, as well as dips where it slopes down to meet the road. In this area there are also windows surrounded by  dark green frames that are mostly smooth, with a few ridges in some areas.

Textures inside the Sweet Auburn Curb Market: Upon entering the market there is an area on one wall, paneled, painted white, welcoming you to the Sweet Auburn Curb Market. The words are in black.

There are lines running from top to bottom, giving it the look of paneling. In some places, near the floor, the paint has been rubbed off, giving it a soft but sandpaper like texture. Where it is still painted it is smooth and glossy.

Another major texture in the Sweet Auburn Curb Market is that of the floor. In most areas, the floor appears to be glossy and polish, though there are some area where the top layer of the floor is missing, creating a rough, pitted, grainy, area that looks like it has the feel of coarse sand. In the areas where the floor and wall connect, the bottom of the walls are cracked, uneven, and splintered in some place, while meeting the floor evenly and smoothly in others.

The ceiling is another large component of the Sweet Auburn Curb Market. The beams of the ceiling are visible, giving it a look of having long ridges traversing from one side to the other. There are also pipes and ducts running across the ceiling, adding an uneven texture to the ridges that are created because of the beams.

Note the duct in the top right corner, it appears to have a matte finish.

Some of the pipes and ducts appear shiny and smooth, while others appear dull and steely. Some even appear to have a black matte finish on them, as well as ridges, groves, bumps, and indents where things are connected.

The above textures described are only a very small portion of what is both inside and outside of the Sweet Auburn Curb Market. There are innumerable amounts of different textures present in and out of the market upon closer inspection of the various walls, floors, and overhangs, as well as all of the different stands and shops inside of the market.
