Creepy Crawly March 4th, 2025 Medium – wire, black beads, clear elastic For this project we had to study different insects and piece together the different body parts to create our own unique species to build out of wire. We were encouraged to use different wrapping techniques and to make sure we had no lumpy areas. The insects I chose were a zigzag moth, a spider, and last but not least a beetle. I can definitely say that studying insects and drawing this scientific bug illustration was my favorite part of my process. It wasn’t really my first time working with wire. I used to make wrapped wire jewelry with acrylic beads, and I used those techniques to attach the joints of the piece. I called my insect “The invisible bug” because I used thin wire for each part of the body and attached clear elastic to the wings and black beads for the eyes. During critique my classmates thought it was very unsettling in a way I explained to them that the bug’s only function is just to observe and stare deeply into your eyes. After they perceived it slightly different, saying that they felt it was staring so hard that it was judging them. Post navigation Paper 8 WaysThe Moon and its swirling swirls / plaster organic form
