Marechal Rondon and Alto do Cabrito

The visit to the community of Marechal Rondon today was a great experience. I met so many amazing people. I learned about the infectious diseases that can be contracted from rat bites. After the many lectures and close examinations of all the statistics presented throughout class time in Brazil, researchers reinforced the idea of how poverty is the root of most of the health issues. Low-income communities around the world are continually mistreated. They are the most susceptible group to be exposed to deadly diseases and experience the most disparities. It was not surprising at how the environment surrounding the community we visited today to not be in the best living conditions.

However, it was touching and heart-warming to see the number of young individuals ranging from ages 12 to 18 to be aware of and actively involved in such a severe issue. I admire the strength, positivity, and welcoming vibes of them all. Relationships were built within a matter of minutes of spending time with one another. It was truly inspiring to see a unified group of young individuals working together to make a difference. I truly appreciate the community of Marechal Rondon because they have accomplished so much. I know with their powerful spirits they will be efficacious and positively change the lives of many individuals in the future.
