Introduction

My name is Sivasubramaniyan Mourougassamy, but you can just call me Siva.

I’m a senior undergrad student at Georgia State University,  and I’m pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. I’m from a city called Pondicherry in India, but I’ve grown up here in America for the most part.

I love to draw, in fact, I’ve been drawing ever since I was a kid. I’ve gotten into trouble many times from doodling in class or on my exams, but that trivial, thoughtless pastime has evolved into something of a personal art style, so to speak. I feel that I can draw most naturally when I’m drawing lines and shapes in an abstract manner, with no real connection to any object or idea. I’m also into video games, but mostly PC games. I’ve also dabbled a little bit with writing poems and stories. In the interest of saving myself from embarrassment, however, I try to keep details about that part of my life confidential. As early as elementary school, I was captivated with taking things apart and learning how they work; my family had a running joke that giving me any toy would just result in its eventual dismantling for little to no reason. As I grew older, it was clear that it was just a desire to build things, to assemble a sum of parts into a functional whole. Coding gave me the means to do this without the expense and various other tedious factors associated with physical objects. My dad taught me how to build a website, and I started to venture more into building programs and tools. Mind you, these were basic arithmetic calculators or something or other that you would expect any kid to be capable of building.

That led me here as a Computer Science major. In all honestly, I’ve never been good at school. My girlfriend tells me I’ve likely been living with diagnosed ADHD for the majority of my k-12 experience, and I’m starting to experience it. But, like most other people, I’ll probably never know for sure; this seems to me to be an extremely common problem that isn’t addressed much at all. Despite all this, I’m making it work, and that’s about all we can do until we’re in a place to make positive changes. I’m happy to be in an environment that I can seek knowledge and be granted with it, and I’m happy to just be alive and be able to disconnect for a moment or two here and there.

I’ve attached a little sample of what I like to draw in my spare time, I hope you enjoy it:
