Project 2:Shape

This project centers around the concept of shapes, challenging us to explore the interplay of positive and negative space. Divided into two parts, the project entails first selecting an architectural image from a magazine and using it to create three pieces of artwork. The first composition centers on compressed shapes at the paper’s center. The second employs the Switcheroo technique, compelling us to strategically design the shapes to create a dynamic interplay between positive and negative space that continuously shifts the viewer’s focus. In the final part, we aim to use shapes to guide the viewer’s eye off and back onto the page. Additionally, this part permits the use of different materials to further enhance the visual impact of the shapes.

II. Positive space switcheroo

III. Directing the viewer’s eye

Shadow Puppet Show

The second part of this project involves creating a shadow puppet story. We begin by selecting a story and drawing a storyboard to plan out the narrative. Next, we design the characters using a diverse range of shapes, carefully considering their forms and proportions. Finally, we present the story using shadow puppets.
