Lines are one of the most fundamental elements of art. During this project, we did explore the use of lines in art, their various applications, and their role in creating compelling works of art. One of the most significant aspects of this project was the wide variety of lines and how to use them to add value and depth to the artwork. This project consists of three parts – Photography, Subdivision of the Groundsheet, and Antonym Expression – each contributing to the comprehensive understanding of lines and their mastery in art.
I. Line, Photography
The initial phase of the project involved capturing images of diverse line types, studying their impact on the visual composition. We examined how the variation in line weight, direction, and texture can drastically transform the overall appearance of a picture.
II. Line, subdivision of the groundsheet
The next part is the subdivision of a ground sheet. In this part by using black paper, we cut out different varieties of lines to design a nice artwork and glue them to the Bristol paper. This part consisted of four sections. In the first section, we only focused on creating designs using vertical and horizontal lines. In the second section, we experimented with diagonal lines. In the third section, we explored curved lines, and in the fourth section, we combined all of these types of lines.
III. Line, Expressing The Antonym
In the last part, we had to design lines in such a way that we could convey the emotions and meanings of the selected antonym words by simply looking at them. We began by selecting two opposing words and creating thumbnails that captured their essence. We then chose the most effective thumbnail and crafted it using black and Bristol paper. My antonyms were (together-apart).
