Week 11

Week 11 shall be interesting. This week, tomorrow to be more exact, I’ll be attending a live virtual event for my internship company’s Facebook group. For the past few weeks, I have scheduled social media captions and posts targeted at the members of the group. At first, I felt unsure about creating the captions. Social media and websites that I am not used to are never my strong suit, but as time went on, I have gotten better. I’ll be interacting with the members and progressing the virtual event along. Thankfully, I won’t have to speak and be virtually visible for others to see.

For Udemy, I am halfway done with completing my digital marketing certificate. I’ve just covered marketing for Google Ads. I knew what Google Ads were before the module, but I did not know about the ranking and the competition to broadcasting your company or product you are trying to sell. I would say it’s as important as Facebook and Instagram. This week I will be working on a press release, and I think I don’t like doing them as much as blog posts. Unless they are something I am also interested in. One of the things I am learning is when a client presents a product that wants to sell sometimes you will have something you like and other times you will not. The key will be how and when you publicize it. All press is not good press, so the way a copyeditor format the blog, press release, and whatnot is highly important.

Week 10

This week is passing by very quickly. I did not make a post last year due to spring break. Yesterday, my intern bosses decided to meet and assign me tasks. It isn’t many tasks that I am used to. It’s something I think I can finish tomorrow. Some task topics are creating captions, press releases, and pitches. In my free time, I complete some more Udemy training. I’ve mentioned this in my previous posts. Udemy training is a virtual course that caters to the teachings of digital marketing. It teaches marketing, digital tools, SEO, and much more. Currently, I just finished watching the Youtube Marketing module. I’ll be learning about the Facebook Marketing module next. One of the things I have noticed in the teachings is that canvas and excel are two contributors to digital marketing.

Besides that, I have received my student evaluation. I’ve been doing a great job in my internship. We have about a month left, and then we’ll be finished. I don’t have any cons about my internship except for getting more team members and staff to help and contribute to the brand, but my bosses are already working on that, and hiring more people. These next weeks in the internship may be about wrapping up the teachings and tasks learned and how to provide and continue learning in the real world.

The Week Before Spring Break

I’m writing my blog post earlier than I usually would because I cannot wait until spring break comes next week. For the past few weeks, I have gotten a few assignments to work on for my internships. I’m excited I get to have a break from my school courses and my internships. I hope I will feel refreshed afterward to succeed in my courses for the semester. This week, my intern tasks are specifically about copy editing. The tasks deal with copy editing emails, spreadsheets, and social media captions. Copyediting emails and spreadsheets are very easy. Once I see the template needed, I can easily complete the assignment assigned. I will also be doing more social media captions for my bosses’ Facebook accounts. I think I’m getting more comfortable posting on that site. Instagram is a little better, but nonetheless, Facebook is getting easier.

I may also complete edits or make revisions to old blog posts too. Blog posts are getting easier for me. I have been practicing where to format and write out the subjects for the targeted audience the client wants to release. The internship has been teaching me a lot, and I hope to practice more on copy editing and/or copywriting. Pitches are also something I want to work on. I want to do more tasks about SEO, outreach emails, and pitches. I think these concepts are important to learn because they will be used outside of copywriting. They will be used in the public relation, publishing, media, and marketing industries.

Halfway Completed

Overall, the spring semester is going by so quickly. It’s already “midterms”, or rather the midpoint of the semester. I’m so happy I don’t have actually tests that I have to take. It’s just been essays or written/oral exams. I guess that’s a perk to being so close to graduating with an English degree. I just have one more year to go. This week, my tasks were quite simple. I had to do a blog post. It was actually a revision to the blog post I completed last week. I think this one is way better. Grammarly has been a helpful tool to look over the final edits or typos I may have before submitting my final work. I should have downloaded it sooner. Besides this blog post, I’ve just had research and copyediting spreadsheets to complete.

Social media captions are easier to create with Instagram than on Facebook. Not that Facebook is harder, but I think I prefer Instagram. I like planning the posts and captions on a website called Planoly better. I don’t know if I have mentioned this in my other blogs on this site but my internship boss is letting me complete a digital marketing certification on Udemy. The program has been teaching me different stuff too. Right now, I’m learning SEO, which is search engine optimization. There are about 19 sections to learn, and I’m only on 6. I’ve been so busy, but I’m hoping to finish by the end of the semester.
