For this project we are using soap and clay to make a sculpture thats abstract and perform the idea of inside and outside. At first I just started carving the soap and tried to make something abstract . I want to have different texture, so I made some holes, big holes, and some small holes. I did some little squares on top. And I want it to be asymmetrical, so I made the back side more smooth and simple, the front side is more complex and detailed. When it comes to how to incorporate clay with the soap, I thought I could make a base for the soap sculpture with clay, and I made it like it’s setting on some flower patel. And I add some loops to go through the holes. I like working with the clay better because it’s easy to manipulate into any form I want, and when it dry it’s very stable.
