First of all, a very happy new year to all my fellow SIF mates! It has been a wonderful year so far and like everyone I am very much excited to join SIF again,this time as a full time SIF. It is already three weeks into the semester with new courses, new people and new issues. The semester has slowly started sinking in, with all those assignments and other courseworks.

Meanwhile, we are progressing very well with our work at SIF. The Hoccleve arcive project is moving at a very good pace and we are very happy about it. The digital publication of an edition of Hoccleve’s holograph poems is underway very soon. We are now trying to transform our XML work into a HTML display.Also,we are now embarking on a graph design/display of our work.

We also had a discussion for a new project with Hector Fernandez. The project was about Latin American Social Media Branding. Hector wanted us know about the impact and the reach of the social media campaign that are being employed by the Latin American countries. There are several organizations which categorize the results and rank the nations with the highest social media impact, with the most popular being the Future Group’s organization. Rankings were based on the reach of their advertising to the foreign nationals. Off them, Brazil has got the top ranking since the number of people visiting their campaign is very much higher when compared to the other Latin American countries. But Hector wanted us to know if it is the only metric through which the rankings were made and how accurate are they. He also wanted us to come up with the statistics of such measures. We were not completely sure about it at this point of time and we have also requested him for the datasets so that we can come up with the patterns based on those data sets. This project might require us to do pattern analysis, knowledge mining and integration of the data. We are yet to get the updates regarding the project.

Meanwhile, it has become a little hectic for us with the assignments and project reports being due in the coming weeks. It is time we manage our work at both SIF and classes and find time to complete all the works on time. Lately I have been following few videos on how to mak most of your time and how to lead a peaceful life. I have found a very good video. Though very basic, it sounds very optimistic and that’s what I had liked about the video. So, I am here sharing it with all of you.

So, in the coming few weeks we will probably have some concrete results of our works on different projects like Hoccleve archive, Almanac Archive and probably Latin American Social Branding. So, the coming few days would be crucial for us to implement according to the given specifications.
