Project 2 involved creating 1 point perspective, 2 point perspective, and atmospheric perspective drawings from my hero’s eyes using ink, watercolor pencils, and other medium of my choice. In the beginning, I started with brainstorming ideas for my hero–I wanted my hero to be unique yet easily approachable by other people while simultaneously relating to who I am as an individual. In the end, I decided to create a children-loving baking hero who bakes magical sweets that induces happy childhood memories in other people. Researching reference photos was much easier than brainstorming and actually combining the reference photos and my ideas into three pieces of artworks/ my narrative.
As an art student, I was always interested in creating a story of my own; given the opportunity to plan and create a character of my own to complete a short narrative, I was able to improve my understanding of comic-making and story-making. In addition to the compassion project that I completed in the beginning of the semester, I feel that projects 2 and 3 enhanced the idea that I could help out/ become a real-life “hero” to positively influence the society that I live in.
