Putting the right frame on your design challenge will help you begin the process, organize how you think about your solution, and when in doubt, help clarify where you should push your design. Framing your design challenge is more art than science, but there are a few key things to keep in mind.

First, ask yourself: Does my challenge drive towards impact at the university, allow for a variety of solutions, and take into account the existing constraints? It might take a couple of tries before to refine the challenge and don’t worry if it’s still ambiguous. Some people use the word aiming instead of framing, meaning pick a direction and go.
