Inside-out, also known as the soap project, was for us to carve a block of soap and mold clay around it to make a sculpture that is scaled up could be something people would experience rather than just look at. I haven’t done much three dimensional art before this class so I had not ever carved anything, so I didn’t really know where to start, but once i started I just kind of went with the flow, and tried to go crazy without breaking the soap. I noticed that I was holding back because I was afraid of breaking the soap, but when I did realize that I decided to just go crazy so I carved a hole in the middle and cut random corners to make it seem a little more out there. Abstract is not really something I do well, because I have an issue with losing control so when I added the clay I had to try really hard to make it not look like something. I showed it to my friend and they saw it as a specific thing. Also didn’t have any expectations for this project. I just kinda hoped it would look nice.
