This sculpture was just me playing around with paper for a project
In the 10 ways project I had to take 10 individual sheets of paper and turn each of them into sculptures. Going into this project, I made a list of things that I could go, such as a sun and a crown. My original ideas were very basic and not very creative, so I decided to try to put a spin on them with a subliminal message mainly for me to see. I made the crown crumble and even though I hated how it looked I took a picture and the different ways I played with lighting on it made me like it but it wasn’t a crown anymore. From there I threw out most of my other original ideas and just started playing around with the paper. I did some paper mache with EXTREMELY diluted glue. I learned that when you have limited space or materials to work with you have to get creative with it, which was really helpful because I often run out of materials in personal projects and either scrap the whole thing or just put it on hold until I can get more supplies. Overall it was a fun project and I learned that sometimes you have good ideas, sometimes you don’t, and if you get stuck take a step back and jump out of the box. My personal goal for this project was to make at least one sculpture without a plan and make it as abstract as I could. This was difficult for me because I have always relied on plans but I was able to do it with my last sculpture which ended up being my favorite.
