Atlanta-Based Learning: The First Tee

The First Tee is an international youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to young people on golf courses, in elementary schools and at other youth-serving locations. I completed my service at Charlie Yates golf course located in the East Lake are. I spent my time helping young children learn the basics of golf. I also helped them learn the key personal values that come along with the game, such a integrity, honesty, and sportsmanship. It was great to see their excitement and energy towards the game of golf. I really wanted to make sure the kids had a good time so I let them learn at their own pace and I encouraged them while they were learning. Since I am a college golfer, I used my golf skills to help the kids learn about the basic fundamentals of the game. I am also very knowledgable about the rules of golf so I was able to answer any questions that they had about that. Overall, this was a very good experience for me and I really enjoyed spending time with these kids. I really want to focus more of my time on service projects based around Georgia State so I can help those in need and also provide a service to the community as a whole.
