In the project using the negative space to create our own still life we needed to focus on the material that we were drawing so that we could create from the object without actually creating it from scratch. This project made me focus on measuring the space in between to get my proportions correct. Correct proportions allowed me to sketch faster when looking at a still life which meant less time erasing errors and more time using only line to effectively sight the objects in my still life. When I first started drawing the negative space I tried drawing the outline of what I was looking at which was ok but when I paid closer attention to the details in the still life I was able to create a more realistic image of what I was trying to draw. I used a charcoal pencil, 18 x 24 inch sheet of drawing paper.
