Residential students are able to join any of the RHA Executive Committees below by participating in Community Council! If you are interested in joining a committee and joining your halls’ Community Council,  use the “Apply Here” button to complete an application.

RHA Executive Committiees

Community Outreach Committee

Chaired by the RHA Vice President

  • Develop and implement RHA Community engagement project. The project focuses on advocacy, giving back to the community, and addressing a social issue that can directly impact residents. 
  • Project involves connecting with outside non-profit organizations for a potential partnership.  
  • Committee also focuses on reaching out to residents and seeking feedback to better tailor RHA programs/initiatives to their needs. 

Bid Committee

Chaired by the RHA National Communications Coordinator & National Communications Coordinator in Training 

  • Committee members participate in pre-conference preparation and work with the NCC and NCC-IT to develop award-winning bids. 
  • Bids are almost like preparing presentations that we present at conferences to compete against other universities. Examples include Advisor of the Year, Pro-staff of the Year, Best Program, etc.
  • Recruit and prepare attendees for local, regional, and national conferences.
  • Members of this committee have the opportunity to attend conferences with all expenses paid

Public Relations Committee

Chaired by the RHA Marketing and Public Relations Chair

  • The committee assists the Marketing and PR Chair in designing flyers.
  • Promote RHA events on social media platforms.
  • Contribute to any RHA Public relations or Marketing initiatives.
  • Developing content to be featured on RHA media platforms.

Programming Committee

Chaired by the RHA Spirit and Traditions Chair 

  • Develop annual traditions in GSU Residence Life.
  • Assist the RHA Chair of Spirit and Traditions in developing large-scale programming that is inclusive of the diverse residential population in University Housing. Programming is centered around creating Residence Life annual events that RHA is recognized for.
  • This committee focuses on the larger-scale events to build sense of spirit, tradition in residential life, and community.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee

Chaired by the RHA Inclusion Chair 

  • Implement RHA project centered around social justice & advocacy. 
  • Improve inclusion in the residence halls.
  • Collaborate with the RHA Inclusion Chair in implementing initiatives focused on advocating for residents on campus without regard to age, race, religion, gender, regional/national origin, veteran status, sexual orientation and/or ability.

 

Sustainability Committee

Chaired by the RHA Sustainability Chair

  • Identify innovative ways to live more sustainable in University Housing.
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of initiatives that promote sustainable living within the Georgia State University residence halls.
  • Collaborate with the Department of Sustainability to make recycling in Housing more accessible.

Student Leader Advisory Committee

Chaired by the RHA President 

  • Committee members include the NRHH President, Panther LEAP Coordinator, RHA President, the nine Senior Resident Assistants, a Learning Community Assistant representative, & a Student Assistant representative.

  • Committee communicates concerns, comments, and feedback from residents across to the RHA President to provide means for improvements in the residence halls.

  • Discuss Student Leader training such as components to include or need more focus on during training.

 

Requirements To Be Involved In RHA:

  1. Be a residential student of Georgia State University Housing.

  2. If applying to be a Community Council member or to be an RHA Representative for General Assembly you must reside in the Residential Community you are plan to represent.

  3. Have a(n) interest/desire in developing community relations within your Residential Community.

  4. Be available in the evening for meetings and events/programs.
