About Me

I am a third-year PhD student at Georgia State University (GSU) studying political science.  I graduated Magna Cum Laude in the spring of 2014 from the University of Georgia (UGA) and recently finished my Master’s.  While I work for the university as a research and graduate student, I also frequently work for Capitol Strategy Group to help with their state/federal fundraising and state lobbying.  Thus 20160602_012551745_iOSfar, I have written on topics like the Death Penalty, the influence of electoral systems on judicial systems, legislative professionalization and occupational diversity, and territorial disputes in East Asia.

During my time at GSU, I have developed a passion for data science and am currently working on the second edition of my Stata guide for graduate students.  I also worked with the graduate student association (GSA) as conference co-chair for the GSA conference.  Currently I am working as a summer associate for Capitol Strategy Group, a fundraising and lobbying firm.

IceI also am lucky to have the support of my wonderful wife, Julie Gardiner, and spend most of my nights playing with my son, Carter.  The past few years have included living in the Philippines and Washington DC, working in a congressional office, and starting a family.

My interests include courts, data analysis, and lobbying.20160105_162248999_iOS  During my time at Georgia State I have taught the basic American Government class that all students must pass to graduate.  I hope to continue my education and start a career in politics or as a professor.
