Charts, or Graphs?

What Is A Graphic?     Charts, or Graphs?     Example Table     Example Bar Chart     Example Line Graph

Terms such as tables, charts, and graphs are not consistently used among designers, users and software developers.

Table is often used to describe structured text and data. Rather than writing in sentences and paragraph form, the writer uses spacing, bullet points, rows and columns, or other devices to format the information. The table may appear as part of the text or as a separate graphic.

Chart is used by some experts as an umbrella term for any table or graph. Familiar to users of software programs is its use for specific kinds of graphics, such as bar chart and column chart. This use is distinct from graph which often refers to “line” or linear representations of data.

It doesn’t really matter what terminology you use but rather that you choose a form that best represents your purpose.
