Writing in plain English does not mean “dumbing it down.” Each reader has a different background (think: “speaks a different language”). You must write in a common language—plain English. You must demonstrate your mastery of technical materials and your credibility by explaining it to someone not as well versed in the particular subject.

Write to the client.  The report is about the client, not about the researcher, analyst or team. The client is interested in answers to their questions not in descriptions of meetings held, how much time was devoted to each task, or trivial steps of your analysis.
