The purpose of a research report is to objectively present the results of research and analysis in an unbiased manner to improve decision-making.
- A research report provides information; it is not intended to persuade the reader or to act as a sales pitch. A research report should not “spin” the results; the results are what they are. Report the results and let the audience decide how to use them.
- A research report reports results; it is not intended to entertain. Variation for the sake of variety is not desirable.
- A research report is not intended to generate solutions or ideas, unless specifically requested.
