RARE Summer Research
Reading and Research Education Study
We are currently looking for young adults with a past or present reading disability or dyslexia diagnosis. If you are interested in learning how the brain works during reading and receiving a personalized reading treatment plan, we are looking for people available in the summer to join our study! Participation will include a total of 4 magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans (two at the beginning and 2 at the end of the program). You will also receive 2 transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) sessions, followed by personalized reading instruction twice per day. In between sessions, you will learn about dyslexia and neuroscience from a research perspective and how to analyze MRI and TMS data gathered from this study. You will receive $20 an hour (up to $2,180) for participation in this study.
We are looking for people who meet the following qualifications:
- Documented diagnosis of a reading disability or developmental dyslexia
- Ages 18-30
- No major psychiatric or neurological disorders (ADHD, depression, or anxiety are okay)
- No permanent metal in or on the body
- Native English Speaker
- No claustrophobia
- Generally healthy
