While working on this student short film I really found what I wanted to pursue in the film industry and what I may want to steer a bit more away from. The modules helped me write and plan a coherent story that I was truly proud of from start to finish. Unfortunately do to a death in my family and scheduling conflicts my cast and shooting plans fell through. With less than a month to make up a new story from start to finish I had to make to with what I had ready at my disposal. I rewrote my script at lease five times and replanned shoot days for weekends to try and get as much coverage as I could. Along the way I ran into several pitfalls and errors and again and decided to start from scratch. again. Working with no budget and myself as camera operator, director, editor, and writer definitely reminded me of the hard work that goes in to filmmaking and why it truly takes a community. While this uploaded short film of mine does not relate to my previous story, I strived to make the short story feel alive. I may not have produced the student film I expected for myself, over all I’m really proud of what I was able to produce under extenuating circumstances as well as the ability to admit where I lacked. A Holiday Weekend was shot start to finish by myself. I likely won’t be doing anymore solo-shoots but I’m grateful for the opportunity to understand myself and my skill set more.
