Two independent clauses can not be joined by just a comma. I often make that mistake. It is also nice to finally know when to use a semicolon. I had a question about #3 on pg. 391. I am confused about the semicolon before “I can” and the comma after “I can” and before “however.” I think the semicolon goes before “I can” for natural pause purposes.
The diagramming in this section was pretty difficult. I understand the concept of compound direct objects and verbs. However, I have an issue with diagramming compound sentences with prepositional phrases. Compound sentences with coordinating conjunctions are a pain to draw. Although, I understand that concept more than any other compound sentence diagram structure.
