Reflection:

This assignment prompted me to find a relevant issue, and make a mini-argument.

In response I surveyed the practices of digital data mining and claimed that these practices are unethical. This was a very arduous assignment for me because I was so invested and concerned with the topic that I became a perfectionist—I would start to write and quit because I would be overwhelmed by the great expectation that I had of creating an effective and powerful discourse against what I thought was a violation of privacy in the digital age. Finally I wrote this draft on the last possible day. I would definitely revise it to arrange my ideas with stronger support; to use less block quotes; and to fix various grammatical mistakes. In retrospect, I learned various composition and rhetorical skills from the drama around this assignment– especially in regards to splitting the process in parts in accordance with the canons.
