This clip is the very first time students get the chance to be both writers and coaches. As you watch the clip, notice that the instructor scaffolds the steps, models what to do, and monitors students before moving on. Taking the time to be sure the students understand the writer and coach roles and can switch papers smoothly is worth all the effort in the long run. This is also the first time student use the Fix It Line. Be sure to emphasize that it is only used if a thumbs up is not received.
