Doug Brown was born and raised in Nebraska, but lived in Colorado for several years and moved to Alpharetta, GA in 2002.  He was employed with Sherwin-Williams Paint Company as a regional sales manager.  Doug started play alto sax in the 5th grade and found his passion.  Doug says: “All I ever wanted to do was play the sax. Lincoln High School had an excellent jazz band and I have been hooked on big band music ever since.”

Brown attended the University of Nebraska as a music major but was unable to complete his education, due to “life getting in the way.” Doug played with community bands in both Denver and Omaha and played for thirteen years with the Nebraska Wind Symphony and their big band, The Swingtones.  After moving to Alpharetta he played with two area big bands, for church ensembles and with a few rock bands. After retiring in 2014 Doug began playing full-time and focused on learning the flute and Hammond organ.  He is currently playing with PC Jazz Ensemble, Blue Notes big band, Atlanta Wind Symphony, After Hour Quintet and is a regular sub for several groups around the Atlanta area.

Doug says: “My wife of 44 years, Kathy, is my one and only groupie and still supports my passion for music. I am truly blessed.”
