On day one of my time here in Paris I was tasked with going on a scavenger hunt with my partner, Rebekah, to visit Mur Pour La Paix (Wall of Peace) and Organerie Museum. Our first stop was at the Wall of Peace. It was quite easy to find coming from our hostel, which was about thirty minutes away. All we needed to do was to walk to the train station (five minutes away), hop on the number seven train, then switch to the number 10 train, after which we got off at La Motte – Picquet Grenelle. From there it was about a ten minute walk to the site. Once we arrived, I was surprised to find out that the Eiffel Tower is directly behind the monument. After taking some time to appreciate and take some pictures with the monument we decide to visit the Organerie Museum. Now this location was a bit more complicated to find, not only that but there was also a fairly large protest taking place. We were greeted with this heavy crowd of people yelling with with signs as soon as exited the subway. Once we saw what was happening, we immediately tried to get away from the crowd of protestors and officers. We then walked for about thirty minutes in search of the museum, while trying to avoid areas where the protest had reached. Little after that thirty minutes we realized that we would not be able to get access to the the museum because the police officers had sectioned off the entire area because of the protest.
Despite the fact that we were not able to see the museum, we still got the opportunity to visit other sites and witnessed some of the political issues the country is faced. In all, this scavenger hunt allowed me to become familiar with the area and riding the train.
