Bin Contents: 1 Dynamics Cart & 1 Wooden Block

Obtain 1 Cable, 1 Motion Detector, 1 LabQuest 2.0 Module, and 1 Dynamics Track.

NOTE: they are found at the carts next to the bins. Return them where you found them!

Use the Cable to connect the Motion Detector to the Lab Quest 2.0 Module

NOTE: the port (DIG 1) is located under the flap at the top/left.

The default setting is for a duration of 5.0 s – it is not adequate for the experiment!

Use the built-in stylus (located at the right) to tap the gray box where it says “Duration: 5.0 s”.

The following screen is displayed; tap the gray box with the number 5.

The following screen is displayed; tap 10.

NOTE: if the screen is not responsive, refer to the “Lab 00 Simple Kinematics” PDF – Page 4, Setup, Step 3, Bullet 3.

Tap the Graph Icon at the upper/right to display the Readout you need for the experiment.

The Readout; the sensor’s data will be plotted here.

You may change kinematic variables by tapping the vertical (y) axis of either top or bottom graph.

Your choices are limited to: Time, Position, Velocity, Acceleration, and All Data.

We are only interested in Position, or Velocity, or Acceleration.

Note – the horizontal (x) axis is always Time.

To obtain data, tap the Play Button.

NOTE: this action overwrites any data already collected.

The axises auto-scale after the 10 s are up.

Tap anywhere on the graphs; a vertical line appears and acts like a cursor for the Time axis; at the right side of the screen you will be given Position, Velocity, or Acceleration at that particular Time.

A closeup view of the data.

The vertical line may be moved left and right by tapping the boxes with the arrows at the bottom of the graphs.
