Proctored Testing Information

GSU Perimeter College Department of Mathematics and Department of Computer Science and Engineering will require the use of Respondus Monitor for all final exams (and other exams as decided by the instructor) for online and on-campus classes during the current pandemic. Respondus Monitor refers to the use of the Respondus Lockdown Browser and the use of a web camera and microphone. Respondus Monitor may be required for other assignments at the discretion of your instructor. See Respondus Lockdown Browser and Monitor for more information.

You will be required to download the Respondus Lockdown Browser either from the site above or from the midterm or final exam within iCollege. (Some courses may require Respondus Monitor for other Assessments – see your syllabus for more details.) Review this detailed guide to download and install the lockdown browser if you have not used it before. This will ensure you can use this software at the appropriate time. You should do this before classes start.

All students are required to ensure they have access to a device that is compatible with Respondus and have access to a web camera and microphone. The Respondus Lockdown Browser and monitoring software can be installed on PCs, Macs, and iPads. It can NOT be installed on phones or on Chromebooks. Please let your instructor know immediately if you cannot access a compatible device.

The inability to use Respondus Monitor means that you will not be able to take the final exam and possibly other exams; your grade will be negatively impacted. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure they have the technology and Internet access needed to complete the work in this course. Contact your instructor if you have any questions or concerns about Respondus and web camera usage.

If you are unable to install the LockDown browser due to a technical issue, please contact the GSU helpdesk or visit https://cetl.gsu.edu/services/digital-environments-teaching-tools/respondus-lockdown-browser-monitor/.

The college has devices that can be checked out if you do not have the proper devices at home. Read Internet Options for more information. This page has a link to request equipment checkout.
