Adding a Formula Sheet to an Exam that Requires Respondus Monitor

There are several courses that permit students to use a formula sheet on the final exam. You can give students access to a formula sheet that opens in a separate window with Respondus Monitor. There are two main steps that you will need to follow to make this work.

Step 1: Create a link to the formula sheet within your test. I suggest inserting a link in the first question of the exam or you could insert it at the first question that requires its use. Below are the URLs that you will need to insert on your exam for the appropriate course.

To add the link to an exam question, go to Quizzes in iCollege and click on your final exam. Then click on Add/Edit questions and click on the question where you want to insert the link.

Before the actual exam question, enter a statement about the formula sheet.

To add additional formatting to the statement, expand the window and use the appropriate formatting tools.

Then highlight “formula sheet” and click on the Insert Quicklink icon. Scroll down and click on URL. Enter the appropriate link from above. Then click on insert.

Now return to the question view. Save the question and then click on Done Editing questions. Save the updated quiz.

Step 2: Now you will need to give permission to the appropriate web domain in the Respondus Monitor settings to permit access to the linked file.
  • Click on the Lockdown Browser tab from the Quiz tool in iCollege.
  • Select Settings from the drop-down menu for the final exam.
  • Expand the Advanced Settings for the Lockdown Browser and enter the documentcloud.adobe.com in the box and save.

Another option is to include the link to the formula sheet in the header/footer of your exam.  This is done on the main page of the quiz. You will have to be are to turn on the page header; otherwise, it will not display during the exam.
