Project 2: Drawing Dream – Part 1

For part 1 of project 2, we created a sequential narrative by taking inspiration from our dreams.

My original dream:

“I was in a dark aisle of a store. The colours were black with dark oranges. The shelves were full of many different types of random items.

I came to the end of the aisle, and suddenly a doll dropped from the sky. I caught it and looked at it. It was a porcelain white female doll with brunette braided pigtails, rosy cheeks, and a beige Victorian dress. It was the size of a newborn baby.

I stared at the doll for a while, inspecting it and wondering where it came from and why it came from wherever it came from. Then suddenly, the doll’s face began melting. First, it melted to reveal another doll’s face, red and bloody instead. Next, the mouth from the doll opened and became larger and larger until it was as huge as a basketball.

It was very gore-y and looked as if it were an actual human’s head that had melted and been brutally beaten open. There were remains of squashed brain and muscle. The mouth wouldn’t stop growing, though, and eventually, I dropped the doll.”

It’s definitely a horror, fantasy-Esque type dream but I love horror, so I thought it would be something interesting to work on!

My progress for the sequential narrative:

I think I strived too hard for the end product for this by inking every single panel. But I like the way it came out in the end even though my hands and arms hurt like hell now. LOL

This is the first version before I realized it’s too long:

So I re-edited it and made it smaller in hopes of fewer panels:

I’m aware the first panel’s perspectives are off with the tiling. I regret not sketching them out before inking them. πŸ™
