Early Life
Christopher Maurice Brown aka “Chris Brown” graced his parents, Clinton Brown (corrections officer) and Joyce Hawkins (daycare center director), and soon to be fandom on May 5th, 1989 when he was born in Tappahannock, Virginia. He started showing signs of his singing talent at a very young age by singing in Church and local talent shows. He also stated Michael Jackson as being his inspiration as he taught himself to sing and dance. Because of his display of talent and love of music, Brown’s mother began to look for record deals on his behalf.
Career
Brown was discovered by HitMission records at 13, and began his solo career. He did not follow the typical sequence of starting from a group, then splitting for a solo career. He was then given voice lessons, while preparing a demo package to try for a record deal in New York. He auditioned with Tina Davis, who would later become his manager, and she was impressed with his vocal abilites. She passed him on to the president of the record company, who Island Def Jam Music Group, Antonio Reid, who offered to sign him. Brown eventually broke off with Def Jam and signed with Jive Records, where he completed his first album, “Chris Brown”, which sold 2 million copies and hit number 2 on the Billboard 200. His career skyrocketed from there.
Personal Life
Brown has never married, but has dated Rihanna, Natalie Mejia, and Karrueche Tran. Brown had a daughter, Royalty, born on May 27, 2014, with Nia Guzman.
