Early Life
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was born on September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas to Mathew Knowles, a sales representative, and Tina Knowles, a bank worker and beauty salon owner. Beyoncé knew she wanted to be a superstar from a very early age. Beyoncé was shy as a child and her parents put her into dance class when she was 7 years old, so that she could make friends. When her parents saw her perform, they were stunned. She was a different person on stage and she grew out of her shyness. Once they realized she had talent she began to sing and dance in talent shows and was actually winning the contests. At the age of nine, Beyoncé auditioned for the Girl’s Tyme group and made it, this is when her career started.
Career
Girl’s Tyme participated in the tv talent show, Talent Search in 1992, but did not win the contest. Beyoncé’s father quickly took the role as manager of the group, quitting his job, because he believed in the girls’ talent. The group performed anywhere and everywhere, while working on their dancing and singing skills. They signed a deal with Silent Partner Productions in 1995, but the deal fell through. In 1997, the group was signed to Columbia Records in 1997, and they changed their name to Destiny’s Child. The group was very successful selling album after album, adding and dropping team members on the way. It is either because of her father being the manager or her own talent, that Beyoncé emerged as the leader of the group. After hitting the top of the charts, each member decided that they would embark on solo projects, but still perform as a group. While working on her solo album, Beyoncé also began acting and created a career for herself starring in many movies like Dreamgirls and The Fighting Temptations. She later released Dangerously In Love, featuring many artists, including Jay-Z, Missy Elliot, Sean Paul, and Big Bio. This album showed a more mature, sexier side of Beyoncé that was not seen in Destiny’s Child. Beyoncé soon became a huge star, and continues to have success to this day.
Personal Life
Beyoncé married rapper, Jay Z, on April 4, 2008, after dating since 2002. The couple had a daughter, Blue, on January 7, 2012. The couple later had twins, daughter Rumi, and son, Sir, on June 13, 2017.
